History of Destiny

In the 1991, I began an in depth search on the word purpose and that led me to study the word the word destiny as well. While visiting friends in Lynchburg, VA. Brian and Jeanie Dalen we were in the beginning stages of the birthing of The Destiny Project. In 1996 Tonkins family  moved to Colorado Springs, CO and my first job we with Focus on the Family. I immediately began working with the creative department and they helped us create our first curriculum. When trying to decide on a name for the ministry, we knew it would be something Destiny and  In our kitchen with my wife Vickie, and with our friends  Darryl and Stephanie Moore, we came up with " The Destiny Project". We have been amazed how effective our camps have been since 2001. We average seventy young people accepting Christ each year. We have been blessed to see children accepting Christ and circle back to serve as coaches as young aspiring leaders as older teens and adults. Destiny has been a fruitful ministry and we have been faithful to continue with this exciting mission. Now we are asking friends of this ministry to partner with us monthly so that we can continue to encourage, equip, and empower young people. Join our "Faithful and Fruitful campaign by deciding today to be a financial partner.

1997 is the date we began and 1998 is when we became Incorporated

We had no idea that we would reach so many youth with the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ by using structured and challenging sports competition, nutritious meals and caring coaches.

Our Youth are our future!

To make a difference in our society, we must invest in our children and youth -- with time, our God-given talents and our treasure.

Souls hang in the balance!

At all Destiny Camps we present the Gospel, giving youth and adults an opportunity to accept Christ as their Lord and savior.
